READY...STEADY...GO!
Financial Help for Qualifying Families - Take Part in Out of School and Holiday Activities
Is your child in Reception Class, or aged 5 to 19 years? Then we want your child to take part in a new Government scheme and enjoy access to out of school and/or holiday activities. If your child is eligible for funding, you will not be charged for the activities chosen.
Your child can take part in any activity they have always want to try, provided you as the parent/carer can find a local club/school/business offering that activity. Examples of activities already taken up are:
-
After school clubs/Breakfast clubs
-
Holiday play schemes
-
Residential visits from school and/or voluntary organisations
-
Scouts/Cubs/Brownies/Guides/Rainbows, Sea Cadets, St. Johns Ambulance etc.
-
Art, Craft, Drama and Music activities
-
Activities or Holiday Clubs at Leisure Centres/Sports Centres (e.g. Swimming lessons, Judo etc)
-
Dance Clubs
-
Sports Clubs and Coaching
-
Outdoor pursuits, e.g. horse riding, sailing, fishing etc.
-
Travel to/from an activity
-
Annual Museum pass (which includes Gressenhall Museum, Norwich Castle and 10 other local museums)
To submit an application for funding, your child must meet at least one of the following criteria:
-
Children qualifying for Free School Meals (even if you do not claim them)
- Looked After Children (children in care)
- Young carers, where income is low
- Children of young parents, where income is low
- Children in temporary of poor accomodation
- Migrant communities, Travellers or families with English as an additional language
- Children who are disengaged from the system
- Economically disadvantaged children with Special Educational Needs
- Refugee or Asylum Seeker children
- Those children experiencing difficult family issues
Funding is available from April 2010 to the end of August 2012. Although your child may meet one of the above criteria, funding is not guaranteed and is subject to a decision made by a panel of professionals from Children's Services. The panels decision is final.
There are loads of activities out there - just pick up a Ready..Steady..Go! form from your school office, talk to your child about the activity they would like to take part in, find a local provider to find out costs and when your child could start, fill in the application form, await the panel decision and let the fun begin!
